Internal comms that turns heads

Airservices Australia Cyber security

Airservices Australia was looking for an effective way to remind staff of their security obligations and combat complacency with an engaging and fun campaign.

CRE8IVE’s messaging was designed to stand out from other notices and corporate communications by being friendly, engaging, memorable and showing personality through design.

This campaign was well received and also helped promote conversations about building and cyber security while also enhancing team cohesion and camaraderie. The result was a much talked about information campaign with high engagement and strong messaging retention rates.

One of the key messages of the campaign was around not letting others use a staff security pass. This was communicated via the campaign by showing the potential security breaches that can result from this behaviour. The tone of the video was light-hearted and clever, in keeping with the overall tone of the campaign.

Computer screen with sticky note and donut

Airservices staff all generally enjoyed donuts, so the idea was that if they left their computer unlocked (and vulnerable) that staff member had to buy donuts for their team. It was designed to be a more fun way of changing staff behaviour than the standard reminder message from management or the cyber security team.

The campaign was activated by an all-staff morning tea, with donuts of course. Staff were given post-it notes to stick on their co-workers’ screens if they left their computer unlocked. This proved to be a highly successful way of engaging staff in a fun manner that effectively reiterated one of the key campaign messages.

Reminding staff to stay with escorted visitors was determined to be another message to be reinforced among Airservices staff. CRE8IVE used a clever video idea of an employee's shadow sneaking off to creatively convey this message.
